Golf Tournaments Ltd 2012 HowDidiDo National Matchplay Championship Rules
1. The Championship is played under “The Rules of Golf” for matchplay
as laid down by the R&A and in accordance with all R&A regulations governing
Amateur Status. The tournament is “Approved by the R&A for the payment of expenses
– Rule 4-2g RA/12/2012(Matchplay)”.
2. Competitors must be 18 years of age or over by 14th May 2012,
Seniors 50 or over by 14th May 2012.
3. Maximum handicap for Men is 28. Maximum handicap for Ladies
is 36.
4. The singles competition is open to both ladies and gentlemen.
The Better Ball Pairs competitions are open to lady pairs, gentlemen pairs and mixed
pairs. The Mixed Pairs Competition must be one lady and one gentleman. Players may
enter both Singles and Better Ball Pairs competitions. All entrants must be members
of an affiliated golf club with an official recognized handicap. The Tournament
Committee reserves the right to refuse entry to the tournament. In pairs competitions
team members cannot be changed after the first match has been played.
5. In each match one player/pair is drawn at their home club. It
is the responsibility of all players (home or away) to contact their opponent(s)
to arrange a mutually convenient date and time to play the match. When a match has
been played at home the home course cannot be changed.
6. If courtesy of the course is not granted for the away player(s) then the cost
of the away player(s) green fees will be shared equally by each competitor. (Green
fees will normally be charged at member’s guest rate). If all players have to pay,
the total cost of the green fees will be shared equally by all competitors.
7. In singles matches full handicap allowance will be given. In
pairs matches strokes will be given on the basis of ¾ handicap difference from the
lowest handicapped player in the match. All mixed matches will be played to the
men’s scorecard. Where the Ladies Standard Scratch Score is higher than the Men’s
Standard Scratch Score, ladies will also receive adjustment shots equal to the difference.
Adjustment shots should be added to the stroke allowance after the ¾ handicap has
been calculated.
8. Ladies will play from the ladies tees and gentlemen will play
from the white tees when permitted. If permission is not granted the gentlemen will
play from the yellow tee of the day. If the gentleman are playing from the yellow
tee ladies will receive one courtesy shot.
9. Matches finishing all square after 18 holes will be decided
on a “sudden death” play off commencing at the first hole and the appropriate strokes
will be given. In the event of a match that has started not being completed the
match shall resume from where the game was discontinued, or the match may be replayed
over 18 holes if all players mutually agree. Where a match is cancelled at less
than 48hrs notice and cannot be rearranged at a mutually agreed time, the opponent(s)
may claim the tie.
10. Measuring devices such as GPS are allowed unless there is a
local rule in place banning them.
11. Any player/pair failing to comply with the Championship rules
or found not to meet the initial entry criteria will be disqualified.
12. It is the responsibility of the winner(s) of each match to
inform the Organiser of the result, who will then provide details of their next
opponent(s) and who is drawn at home. Winners must notify the Organiser within 48
hours of completion of the match. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
13. The Grand Finals will be held in February 2013. Competitors
can only qualify for one Grand Final.
14. In the case of any dispute the Tournament Committee’s decision
will be final.
